I Photograph Black Shelter Cats Because They’re The Last To Get Adopted And Are Often Euthanized

I’m photographing black cats in an animal shelter in West Los Angeles. Black cats have the smallest rate of acceptance and the largest rate of euthanasia. I attempted to display their characters with this series of photographs to counter the conviction that black cats are poor luck.

Black cats are great and there’s plenty accessible for the Los Angeles shelters to adopt this Halloween season.
